The Nova is a weapon that was featured only in the Sega Genesis version of Thunder Force II, particularly in the side-scrolling levels of the game.

Description

The Nova shoots a rapid-fire, three-way spreading pattern of ring lasers with a single stream of shots for some minor fixed forward firepower. Another aspect of the ring lasers is that when you move Exceliza in one direction, ring lasers are angled in the opposite direction.

This is similar in function to the later Free Way weapon used by its successor, Rynex, in Thunder Force IV.
